This is the New Midsize Coupe in the metal, and as a demonstrator of the versatility of the Modular Transverse Matrix platforms, Volkswagen says it's what "customers all over the world can look forward to over the next few years." Wider than a Passat, shorter and lower than a Jetta and weighing less than a Jetta, these are the cues a sport sedan on the MQB-B platform could wear.

VW designers didn't take any shortcuts with the detailing, the every corner of the sedan meant to reinforce its presence and draw the eye in. At the front of that long bonnet is a three-bar grilled, with the top bar painted high-gloss black to make the car look lower, the lower two bars finished in chrome look at the front and brushed aluminum in back. They front a collection of finned, ornamental modules, the design reaching all the way into the LED headlights where the finned modules act as cooling vanes for the headlights. The motif is recreated in the lower intakes as well.

From the side you get a full view of the long hood and short decklid, set off by a lower sill in metal. The Dragon Red paint is matched in the 20-inch wheels, with spokes carrying a touch of the body color, and their black inner surfaces complementing the high-gloss black roof panel. In back, 3D LED taillights have aluminum accents, sitting high above twin exhaust pipes split by a high-gloss black diffuser.

The 217-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbo will scoot the New Midsize Coupe to 62 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds, and with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission VW says a driver can get fuel economy of 6.4 liters per 100 kilometers, about 37 mpg.

We're told there won't be any sacrifice in the cabin for that, with "ample space for five," cargo capacity of 500 liters, trim in Silk and Ebony Black with Dragon Red piping, Alcantara on the headliner and pillars, and controls from the Golf (which rides on the MQB-A platform).

New Midsize Coupé combines the worlds of saloons and sports cars

Ten key facts relating to the world premiere of the New Midsize Coupé:

1. Design of New Midsize Coupé gives an initial look at how Volkswagen Design envisions a sport sedan positioned below the Passat.

Wolfsburg / Beijing, April 2014. It's a four-door coupé the like of which has never been seen before in this vehicle class: the New Midsize Coupé concept car. Volkswagen has brought the concept car to Beijing for its world premiere at Auto China 2014. The 'New' part goes without saying: the New Midsize Coupé is as new as a new car can be. 'Coupé' is also unambiguous: the New Midsize Coupé is low in height (1,422 mm) and very wide (1,838 mm), it has a low visual centre of gravity, short overhangs, muscular shoulders and side sections, a dynamic roof line with markedly swept-back C-pillars, a short boot lid and long bonnet. 'Midsize' is less obvious. It is normally the term for a car of the Passat class. However, the concept car is just 4,597 mm long and thus shorter than a Passat and shorter even than the Jetta. However, as mentioned the concept car outdoes the other two in terms of its width – and it is thus midsized. So clearly this concept car exhibits proportions of an extremely sporty nature. The team led by Volkswagen head designer Klaus Bischoff integrated these sharp proportions in a body design that makes the New Midsize Coupé a powerful and avant-garde proponent of a new, compact saloon class.

A saloon and a sports car. When viewed from the front and rear, it immediately becomes apparent that the designers have placed what is known as the "greenhouse", the roof section with all windows, on a very muscular body frame. This strongly emphasises the powerfully modulated shoulder sections and large 20-inch wheels – which is a trait of high-class sports cars. The concept car is painted in "Dragon Red" colour; this brilliant red special effects paint is part of the total concept, because it highlights the powerful modulation of the body especially well. High-gloss black elements such as the roof surface with its integrated panoramic tilt/slide roof create a colour contrast.

Front end ... The design team styled the front end to be very progressive. The designers shifted the visual centre of gravity downwards by special styling techniques. This has resulted in greater dynamism. As mentioned, the New Midsize Coupé is distinguished by a very long bonnet and a very short front overhang. These proportions were enabled by the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) by Volkswagen, and this innovative technical base opened up new possibilities for designers. The team led by Klaus Bischoff took full advantage of this and created an entirely new front-end concept with an avant-garde radiator grille, LED headlights in 3D look and a large lower air inlet with a unique and distinctive chrome signature that is based on Volkswagen design DNA.

... radiator grille and LED headlights. The radiator grille structure consists of three cross fins and the VW badge. The upper cross fin is painted in high-gloss black, while the lower two have a polished chrome look towards the front and are brushed aluminium towards the engine. The upper black cross fin makes the New Midsize Coupé appear even lower in front than it already is, while the bright chrome/aluminium fins emphasise its width. Between the cross fins, there are 36 compact modules, each with three small vertical fins that give the visual effect of hovering within the radiator grille. The radiator grille forms a stylistic unit together with the also newly designed LED headlights and LED daytime running lights that are integrated here – the forms of these elements merge together. Not only do the three cross fins continue into the headlight housings; so do the compact modules, each with three vertical fins. In the radiator grille, these modules perform a purely visual task. However, in the headlights they act as cooling elements for the LED headlights – "form follows function". The LED unit itself also appears to visually hover within the headlight housing.

... bumpers and air inlets. Under the radiator grille, there is a horizontally oriented area painted in body colour, and beneath this comes the central lower air inlet. On its sides, the air inlet is bordered by two diagonal aerodynamic elements that run to the outer edges and form smaller air inlets in front of the front wheels, one each on the left and right. In all three air inlets, there are aerodynamically optimised wing-like cross fins that are finished in high-gloss black; integrated in each of them are brushed aluminium fins. Their visual effect is to further emphasise the width of the New Midsize Coupé. The front end is given an unmistakable look by a chrome strip that frames the lower air inlets – its two sections begin on the left and right sides of the painted central area of the bumper, and they run outwards. The chrome strip is more than a decorative element: at its outer ends it houses the LED indicators. Stylistically, this wrap-around strip creates a strong bracket that emphasises the charismatic contour of the front end. No other car in this segment has such an impressive, wide and sporty appearance as the New Midsize Coupé.

Side profile ... The designers also styled the side profile in an extremely powerful way. Striking here are the roof line at the top with just two side windows and the fast, coupé-like C-pillars that sweep back towards the rear. Another sports car trait is the passenger cabin that is set far back; this emphasises the long bonnet and the proportionately short boot lid. Another perfect example of high-class Volkswagen Design is the shoulder section of the concept car. It runs on two levels; the upper of these two levels develops a narrow line from the C-pillar to below the window sill; it broadens as it moves forward and finally forms a v-shaped contour in the bonnet and front wings – expressing pure power and elegance. Meanwhile, the lower of the two levels begins at the front of the car as a very narrow line that represents the upper limit of what is known as the tornado line; it then runs over the wheel arch flare and becomes increasingly broader towards the rear, forming the powerful shoulders of the rear body.

... precise character line. Positioned on what is known as the character line are the door handles, which also adopt the extremely precise modulation. This integration of the door handles is extremely complex; it is a masterful achievement of production technology, and this represents a unique selling point of Volkswagen. On the lower side body, there is another line, and beneath it the striking design of the side sill that is finished entirely in metal. The interplay of these lines and modulation of surfaces produce an exceptionally athletic car body design. Last but not least, the 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with 245/40 low profile tyres completely fill the wheel housings and give the car the image of a sports car in side profile. The inner surfaces of the machine-polished wheels are painted black. The outer wheel surfaces include segments painted in "Dragon Red" body colour, so that as soon as the New Midsize Coupé begins to move, this small cluster creates the visual effect of a circular band in body colour.

Rear section ... Like the front and sides of the car, the rear body merges the forms of a coupé with those of a saloon. The crisp design of the boot lid features a rear spoiler that is uniformly integrated into the design and terminates with a distinctive dual edge: at the top, the designers created an aerodynamic trailing edge that optimises the downforce at the rear axle. At the bottom, there is a light refracting edge that lowers the visual centre of gravity of the rear body. On the next level, there is another line in the middle of the boot lid at the height of the VW badge, which extends into the rear lights and emphasises the width of the New Midsize Coupé.

... LED rear lights. The 3D design of the LED rear lights with their integrated aluminium elements is especially prominent. Within these aluminium components are the uniformly illuminated LED surfaces of the rear lights. Aluminium and LED surfaces form a trapezoid-shaped angle towards the outside; the LEDs in these areas generate the rear lights and turn indicators. An opposing strip in the middle implements the brake light. Located at the far outer ends are the LED reversing lights – they are minimalistically small but shine very brightly.

... diffuser with dual tailpipes. The bottom of the NMC rear bumper ends in a high-gloss black diffuser. Integrated to the left and right here are the dual exhaust tailpipes with a cross-piece between them; a chrome trim piece that visually connects the two tailpipes. Barely visible when not in use are the reflectors integrated above the tailpipes.

220 PS engine. The exhaust pipes lead at the other end of the New Midsize Coupé to a 162 kW / 220 PS TSI engine. The 2-litre turbo petrol injection engine accelerates the coupé to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds. On German motorways or a racetrack the concept car would be able to reach a speed of 244 km/h. Thanks to the efficiency of the turbocharged engine, the similarly efficient 7-speed dual clutch gearbox, a still lower weight than the Jetta or Passat and a cD value of 0.299 (cD x A = 0.643 m2) the sports car performance is accompanied by fuel consumption of just 6.4 l/100 km.

Sporty interior with lots of room. Driver-focussed and fitted with leather sports seats, the interior too follows the dynamic concept of a coupé. Nonetheless, the New Midsize Coupé is in no way tight or constricted. Instead, it offers ample space for up to five people. The inner surfaces of the seats are designed in a bright "Silk" colour, while the outer areas form a contrast in the dark "Ebony Black". The inner and outer surfaces are visually separated by elegant piping in "Dragon Red", which is the body paint colour. Sophisticated interior elements include the trim strips in piano finish look and the many components trimmed in Alcantara such as the rooflining and the roof pillars. The controls, including the multifunction sports steering wheel and the infotainment system, are based on MQB-A (Modular Transverse Matrix A) and have thus been adapted from the current Golf. Combined with the axles and the width of MQB-B (the modules of the next larger vehicle class), the result is spacious conditions not just in the passenger compartment, but in the boot as well, which is of an excellent size with a capacity of 500 litres. Over and above this, Volkswagen is demonstrating with this concept coupé just how multifaceted the Modular Transverse Matrix is and what exciting models Volkswagen customers all over the world can look forward to over the next few years.

GM Unveils New 2016 Chevrolet Cruze in Beijing [68 Photos]

The big news for Shanghai GM, General Motors' joint-venture with China's SAIC Motors, at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show that just kicked off today, is the world premiere of the new generation Chevrolet Cruze.
GM says the new Cruze was developed by its global R&D team, but has pointed out in previous statements that it's a Chinese Domestic Market (CDM) model and that the North American version due within the next 18 months will be different. We'll have to wait and see what that means in practice.
The new CDM Cruze is a clean-sheet design riding on a brand-new architecture, with GM stating that the "goal was to set new benchmarks in the segment for fuel economy, handling and intelligent technology".
You may think of the Dodge Dart or the [url=http://www.carscoops.com/search/label/Toyota Corolla]Toyota Corolla[/url] when you view the new Cruze, but what GM sees is a car inspired by the Chevrolet Tru Concept coupe shown in Detroit back in 2012.
Under the hood, the 2015 Cruze is the first model to be offered with the new-generation Ecotec small-displacement engine co-developed by GM and SAIC. According to GM's release, "it is available with a choice of the segment's first 1.4L mid-mounted direct injection turbocharged engine or the first 1.5L mid-mounted naturally aspirated engine". Unless we're missing something , we assume GM means the engine is mounted in the front end of the car, not in the middle…
The Cruze will offer three different transmission options, including an all-new DCG seven-speed dual-clutch transmission co-developed by GM and SAIC, an all-new six-speed manual transmission developed in Europe, and the third-generation S6 six-speed automated manual, with GM promising fuel economy improvements of 14-21 percent compared with the previous model.

Frustrando as expectativas de muitos brasileiros que esperavam ver o novo SUV da Hyundai em versão de produção, a montadora coreana revelou o ix25 ainda como conceito durante o Salão de Pequim. Boa parte do mistério, no entanto, foi confirmada: o novo modelo coreano segue os traços adiantados em projeção feita por Autoesporte.
A Hyundai ainda faz suspense sobre quando o novo modelo será visto em versão final e confirma apenas que ele será lançado exclusivamente no mercado chinês ainda este ano. Segundo o presidente da Hyundai Motor Sung Kee Choi, o modelo foi “estrategicamente projetado para a China”.

Durante a apresentação, também foi divulgado que ele será equipado com um motor Nu 2.0, mesma litragem do atual ix35. Foram divulgadas suas medidas, que confirmam o posicionamento do SUV abaixo do ix35. O ix25 mede 4,27 metros de comprimento, 1,78 metro de largura, 1,63 metro de altura e tem entre-eixos de 2,59 metros. O atual ix35 vendido no Brasil mede, respectivamente, 4,41 m, 1,82 m, 1,65 m e 2,64 m.

Novo Genesis
O grande lançamento presente no estande da montadora foi o sedã de luxo Genesis. Renovado, o modelo ficou com visual mais semelhante ao do resto da linha da Hyundai e bem mais agressivo. Ele já é atualmente vendido na Coreia e deve chegar ao mercado chinês dentro de dois a três meses. No Brasil, porém, ainda não se sabe se e quando a nova versão do Genesis desembarcará.


Sabe-se que ele será equipado com motor 3.0 ou 3.3 e contará com tecnologias de ponta, como projetor de informações no para-brisas e sistema de frenagem automática de emergência.

A JAC prepara um grande pacote de novidades que devem chegar ao mercado brasileiro entre o Salão de São Paulo deste ano e meados de 2015. Segundo as estimativas mais recentes, a marca lançará dois SUVs em menos de um ano, além de renovar o sedã J5.
O SUV T4 desembarcará por aqui em meados de 2015, como confirmou o presidente da JAC Motors do Brasil, Sergio Habib. O modelo será equipado com o motor 1.5 VVT flex que atualmente é vendido no J3 e contará com transmissão manual de seis velocidades ou CVT. Ou seja, esse será o primeiro carro com câmbio automático da chinesa no Brasil. A primeira aparição do SUV será durante o Salão de São Paulo, em outubro. Outra novidade será o facelift do J5, que dará as caras também durante o principal evento automobilístico do país.
Já o SUV T6 será apresentado no evento e terá as vendas iniciadas logo em seguida. A vinda havia sido adiantada por Autoesporte e o carro já foi flagrado rodando disfarçado. O modelo mais vendido pela JAC no mercado chinês (cerca de cinco mil unidade por mês) virá com um motor diferente do comercializado em seu país de origem. Enquanto na China o T6 roda com um 2.0 turbo de 175 cv de potência, ele chegará ao Brasil com um 2.0 aspirado flex VVT de 156 cv. No Brasil, ele deve competir com o Chery Tiggo, que leva um motor 2.0 a gasolina de 138 cv acoplado a uma transmissão manual, que foi renovado no início do ano e deve ser atualizado novamente em 2015.

J3 elétrico
Além disso, apesar de ainda não haver planos de trazê-lo para o país, a JAC promete mostrar aos visitantes do Salão de São Paulo o J3 iev, versão elétrica do sedã vendido por aqui. O modelo estava no estande da marca no Salão de Pequim e tem autonomia de 160 km. Segundo a própria montadora, o carro chega a uma velocidade máxima de 100 km/h e leva oito horas para ser completamente recarregado.

A Volkswagen apresenta o seu novo sedã médio, por enquanto na forma de conceito e denominado NMC - New MidSize Coupe Concept. "Coupé" em função do formato do teto com caída forte em direção à coluna C, baixa altura (1,422 metros), elevada largura (1.838 mm), baixo centro visual de gravidade, porta-malas curto e capô longo. A rigor, é um Golf Sedan, porém em formato de coupé de quatro portas (como o VW CC) .



O termo médio porte se ajusta ao comprimento de 4.597 milímetros do veículo - menor que um Passat e praticamente o mesmo que o Jetta. Mas é mais largo que os outros dois, exibindo, portanto, proporções esportivas.


O Volkswagen NMC tem linhas musculosas, com seções fortemente moduladas e grandes rodas de 20 polegadas - característica de carros esportivos de categoria superior. A pintura em Vermelho Dragon - um vermelho brilhante que contrasta com os elementos em preto no teto, reforçando o aspecto esportivo.


A frente tem um visual bastante agressivo, mais baixa que o normalmente encontrado nos Volkswagen, com um longo capô e balanços dianteiros curtos. A mudança de proporções em relação ao Golf, do qual deriva, é um exemplo das possibilidades da plataforma MQB (Transverse Matrix Modular).

Faróis em LED

O grade do radiador é composta por três lâminas transversais e o emblema VW, que separam os faróis de LED que também contam com luzes diurnas de LED, os quais carregam para dentro de seus elementos a continuidade da lâminas. Entretanto, se na grade do radiador, estes módulos executam uma tarefa puramente visual, no interior dos faróis eles agem como elementos de arrefecimento - com uma função ativa, portanto.

Entradas de ar

Abaixo da grande do radiador temos uma faixa de para-choques pintada na cor do carro, e, descendo, encontramos a entrada de ar inferior central. Em seus lados, a entrada de ar é limitada por dois elementos aerodinâmicos diagonais que correm para as bordas externas e formam entradas de ar menores na frente das rodas dianteiras, que têm a função estética de alargar a frente.

Apesar do efeito estético, elas contam com elementos indicadores em LED.

Lateral

Na lateral o destaque é marcada por dois vidros laterais e a coluna C bastante inclinada - reforçando o aspecto de cupê. Outro traço esportivo é o fato de a cabine de passageiros ter se deslocado para traz, enfatizando o longo capô e o porta-malas proporcionalmente curto.


Traseira

Como a frente e as laterais, a parte traseira mescla as formas de um coupé com as de um sedan. O desenho nítido da tampa do porta-malas tem um spoiler traseiro que é uniformemente integrado no projeto e termina com uma borda dupla.


Na parte inferior, há uma borda de refração de luz que reduz o centro visual de gravidade da porção traseiro. Acima, há uma outra linha no meio da tampa do porta-malas, no auge do emblema VW, que se estende até as luzes traseiras e enfatiza a largura do New Midsize Coupé.

Luzes traseiras de LED

O design 3D das luzes traseiras de LED com seus elementos integrados de alumínio é especialmente proeminente. Dentro desses componentes de alumínio temos superfícies LED que formam as luzes traseiras que formam um trapézio em direção ao exterior, formando os indicadores de direção. Uma faixa oposta no meio implementa a luz de freio.

Difusor com ponteiras duplas

A parte inferior do pára-choques traseiro do NMC termina em um difusor preto de alto brilho, que ostenta saídas de escape duplas, com um cromado que as conecta visualmente . Pouco visíveis quando não em uso são os refletores integrados acima dos escapamentos.


Motor

O motor é o 2.0 TSI do Golf GTI, com 220 cavalos capaz de acelerar o NMC de 0 a 100 Km/h em 6,5 segundos. Nas auto-estradas alemãs ou uma pista de corrida ele é capaz de atingir uma velocidade de 244 Km/h. Graças à eficiência do motor turbo, a caixa de câmbio de dupla embreagem de 7 velocidades, um peso ainda menor do que o Jetta ou Passat e um valor Cx de 0,299, o consumo fica 15,5 Km/l.


Interior

No interior temos o painel do Golf, bancos esportivos em couro. Segundo a VW, ele oferece um amplo espaço para até cinco pessoas. O acabamento interno desta versão conceitual é composta por revestimentos em Alcântara tanto nos bancos quanto no teto. O porta-malas tem capacidade de 500 litros.



Conclusão

O Volkswagen NMC é um sedã com formato de cupê derivado do Golf. Com conceito, aponta as tendências de estilo que estarão presentes nos próximos modelos da marca.

A montadora sul-coreana Hyundai finalmente mostrou no âmbito do Salão do Automóvel de Pequim - China - as linhas finais do Hyundai ix25 - SUV compacto baseado na plataforma do Hyundai HB20, e que será lançado também no Brasil para concorrer com o Ford EcoSport.



Imagens, muitas das quais artificiais (veja aqui) do modelo vêm circulando há algum tempo com especulações sobre o desenho do novo SUV da empresa, sendo que o modelo conceitual apresentado finaliza a etapa de especulações.


As imagens mostram que o Hyundai ix25 conta com um desenho dianteiro inspirado no novo Hyundai Santa Fé, com uma grade frontal em formato hexagonal, e faróis delgados em formato tridimensional que invadem os para-lamas.


A chegada do Hyundai ix25, posicionado abaixo do ix35, Santa Fe e Grand Santa Fe, marca a entrada da montadora no segmento de SUVs compactos, e tem lançamento, na China, previsto para o segundo semestre deste ano de 2014.


Em termos dimensionais, o Hyundai ix25 mede 4,270 metros de comprimento, 1,780 metros de largura e 1,630 metros de altura. A distância entre-eixos é de 2,590 metros.


O interior do Hyundai ix25 contará com todos os itens que se espera para um carro desse segmento, como sistema multimídia com GPS Hyundai, direção com assistência elétrica, acionamento elétrico de vidros e retrovisores, ar-condicionado, entre outros.


Na China, o Hyundai ix25 será equipado com um motor Nu 2.0.

A Volkswagen apresentou oficialmente o New Midsize Coupé Concept, uma proposta para um sedã médio com estilo cupê e aparentemente foco inicial no mercado chinês. Construído sobre a plataforma MQB-B, aparentemente uma versão menor da base do Golf, o modelo parece indicar a próxima geração do Jetta.
Menor que o Jetta, o Volkswagen New Midsize Coupé apresenta visual sofisticado e com inspiração da FAW-VW nos faróis chanfrados, semelhantes aos dos New Bora e Jetta chineses. O modelo apresenta rodas aro 20 e pintura em tom Red Dragon.

Com coeficiente aerodinâmico de 0,29, o Volkswagen New Midsize Coupé apresenta faróis de LED e lanternas traseiras com apliques em aluminio. O motor 2.0 TSI é o mesmo do Golf GTI e entrega 220 cv e 35,5 kgfm. A transmissão é a DSG de sete marchas e a aceleração de 0 a 100 km/h é feita em 6,5 s com máxima de 244 km/h. O consumo médio é de 15,6 km/litro.
Pelo que podemos ver, o projeto do Volkswagen New Midsize Coupé Concept tem a mão do designer brasileiro Marco Pavone, que assina também o desenho do up!. Lembramos que durante a apresentação do Novo Fusca no Brasil, foi revelado que a filial brasileira havia desenvolvido um cupê quatro portas de tamanho menor que o CC.

As chances desse NMC ser o tal projeto brasileiro parecem grandes agora. Diante disso, seria uma proposta interessante para o Brasil? Ele ficaria entre o Jetta e o Voyage? Ou assumiria o lugar do sedã médio da Volkswagen? Uma coisa é certa, o estilo dos faróis chanfrados indica sua produção pela FAW-VW na China.

A Citroën mostra em Pequim um conceito que cairia como uma luva no mercado brasileiro: trata-se do C-XR, crossover compacto derivado da plataforma do Peugeot 2008 que começa a ser fabricado em Porto Real (RJ) no fim de 2014. Para a filial nacional, seria uma opção com desenho mais “SUV” que o Aircross, nada mais que um C3 Picasso com roupagem aventureira.

Medindo 4,26 m de comprimento e com 2,65 m de entreeixos, o C-XR foi desenvolvido em parceria com a chinesa DongFeng, o que limitaria sua oferta somente ao mercado local. Mas a comunização de componentes com o 2008 e o uso do motor 1.6 THP com câmbio automático de seis marchas (powertrain cotado para o 2008 nacional topo de linha) o torna muito interessante para a Citroën do Brasil.

Vestindo rodas aro 17″ e com dupla saída de escape, o C-XR tem no design esportivo uma de suas armas. A dianteira é tipicamente Citroën, com a grade interligada aos faróis. Já a traseira com lanternas horizontais bem elevadas dá um toque de jipão alemão ao crossover franco-chinês.

Resta agora esperar pela versão de produção para ver se a Citroën resolverá ofertá-lo em outros mercados.

Hyundai ix25

Este é o novo Hyundai ix25, ou por enquanto, a versão conceitual dele. A marca coreana escolheu o Salão de Pequim para mostrar o protótipo do utilitário esportivo compacto que venderá em todo o mundo. Conforme CARPLACE antecipou, ele será a grande estrela da Hyundai no Salão do Automóvel de São Paulo em outubro.

Agora sim, com nitidez, as imagens feitas no evento pelos amigos do Indian Autos Blog revelam que o design será um dos principais atrativos do ix25, com forte inspiração no irmão maior Santa Fe. Farois, grade e lanternas são praticamente a versão reduzida do utilitário de luxo.
Construído sobre a plataforma compacta da Hyundai-Kia, também utilizada pelo HB20 brasileiro, o ix25 mede 4.270 mm de comprimento, 1.780 mm de largura, 1.630 mm de altura e possui entre-eixos de 2.590 mm. A meta é clara: rivalizar com Ford EcoSport, Chevrolet Tracker e os novos Peugeot 2008, Jeep Renegade e Honda HR-V (Vezel).

Os brasileiros conhecerão de perto o novo Hyundai ix25 no Salão do Automóvel de São Paulo, que acontece em outubro. Segundo fontes ouvidas pelo CARPLACE, o modelo será produzido na fábrica de Piracicaba (SP) a partir de 2015. O modelo deverá estrear com o mesmo motor 1.6 flex (128 cv) da linha HB20, mas também é cotado o uso do 2.0 flex (178 cv) do irmão maior ix35.

Sem fazer muito alarde, a Citroën pode ter revelado no Salão de Pequim, iniciado neste domingo (20) na capital da China, um novo modelo para o mercado brasileiro. Como não poderia deixar de ser, trata-se de um SUV compacto.

Conceito Citroën C-XR surge de mansinho em Pequim: SUV urbano com adereços
O carro em questão é o C-XR, ainda em fase conceitual. Com 4,26 metros de comprimento, ele promete oferecer amplo entre-eixos de 2,65 metros, ao menos uma versão dotada do motor THP de 1,6 litro (sobrealimentado), rodas de aro 17 calçadas por pneus polivalentes e um visual bastante convencional se comparado ao do novo C4 Picasso e, especialmente, ao do conceito Cactus.

O C-XR preencheria uma lacuna grave na gama brasileira da Citroën: sobram multivans (C3 Picasso, Aircross) e falta um jipinho com "cara" de jipinho. Vale notar que o europeu C-Cross não pode ser vendido no Brasil devido a limitações da parceira da francesa com a Mitsubishi -- ele é um "rebadging" do ASX; a Peugeot tem, na mesma plataforma, o 4008.

Segundo a Citroën, o C-XR é o primeiro modelo desenvolvido em colaboração com a fabricante chinesa DongFeng -- que recentemente tornou-se acionista da Peugeot, a outra integrante do grupo PSA (a DongFeng e o governo da França detêm, cada uma, 14% das ações).

Um trunfo do C-XR é não parecer tanto um Citroën: ficou simples e elegante
Em tese, quando virar carro de produção o C-XR visará apenas ao mercado da China. Embora a preferência local ainda seja pelos sedãs (se possível, alemães ou coreanos), a onda dos jipinhos urbanos já está em formação por aqui. Não foi à toa que a Ford, player tardia na China, mas já dona de um best-seller (o Focus), fez questão de lançar o nosso EcoSport no país.

E há mais um aspecto que aproxima o C-XR do Brasil: ele é feito sobre a mesma plataforma da PSA (PF1) que dá origem aos modelos C3 e 208, fabricados em Porto Real (RJ). Mais ainda: o futuro C-XR será uma espécie de "irmão de criação" do Peugeot 2008, SUV compacto nacional que será lançado ainda este ano (o carro da marca do leão é 11 centímetros menor).

Linha de caráter e lanternas altas dão ao C-XR um quê de crossover Audi
Resta descobrir se os planos da PSA para o Brasil (que fabrica os compactos das duas marcas; a Argentina faz os médios) darão mesmo prioridade ao Peugeot 301, que parece ser o próximo da fila de Porto Real quando o 2008 finalmente estiver nas lojas. Afinal, é preciso oferecer algo no lugar do agonizante 207 Sedan, de quebra entrando no interessante sub-segmento dos três-volumes espaçosos, mas não médios. O "duplo" do 301, o C-Elysée, não tem chance de ser produzido em nosso país; e, no entanto, é possível dizer que o C-XR será o "suvinho" derivado dele.

UOL Carros não conseguiu contato com a Citroën do Brasil neste domingo (20). Aqui em Pequim, no estande da marca, só se falava chinês.

We've now seen the Lincoln MKX Concept in the metal, and we've shot it with the lenses of our own DSLR cameras. And we have to say, our opinion of the concept's design language has improved over our initial reaction. Yes, it's clear that this MKX shares its underpinnings with those of the Ford Edge Concept that we saw in LA, but the changes made by Lincoln stylists are a welcome departure from the angular lines of its corporate cousin from The Blue Oval.

We like the subtlety of the MKX Concept's front fascia, and the lighting elements both front and rear lend a luxurious quality to the crossover's typical two-box proportions. When combined with the smaller MKC that was shown in production form late last year, it's clear to see that Lincoln has a specific design direction that at least seems visually capable of setting it apart from the Ford models with which the brand shares its platforms. Here's hoping there are some Lincoln-specific upgrades underhood...

Lincoln MKX Concept Hints at Sophisticated, Elegant Global Sport Utility Vehicle

BEIJING, April 20, 2014 – The Lincoln Motor Company today unveiled the MKX Concept at Auto China 2014 in Beijing. The Lincoln MKX Concept hints at a global SUV that will become the third of four all-new Lincoln vehicles due by 2016. It is designed to capture the attention of consumers worldwide.

This unveiling in Beijing marks the first time Lincoln has stepped beyond U.S. borders to reveal a concept vehicle.

Drawing design inspiration from airplanes and motorbikes, the Lincoln MKX Concept evokes feelings of power and agility, offering a glimpse of the American luxury brand's future as it enters the rapidly growing Chinese market.

Several customer research clinics were held in China and the United States to gather feedback on the design to ensure the final execution would satisfy and delight luxury customers around the world.

"Great emphasis was put on the proportions of this concept vehicle," said Andrea Di Buduo, exterior design manager of the Lincoln MKX Concept. "It's a very emotional, athletic design. Its horizontal lines and defined undercuts are gracefully integrated and very sophisticated, yet convey a powerful and dynamic presence."

Intensive study of the Chinese luxury customer over the past few years revealed that a medium premium utility vehicle should express off-road capability and sportiness.

Based on that, the MKX Concept includes elements such as a separated front skid plate, heightened ground clearance and reinforced wheel arches. The floating aluminum body-side rocker molding is engraved with the Lincoln logo.

This execution communicates adaptability to different road conditions, combined with crafted execution and attention to detail.

Defined by an aerodynamic, sloping teardrop roofline, the Lincoln MKX Concept's modern silhouette lends to its sporty personality, which is highlighted by wide shoulders flanking its recessed rear windows to heighten the design. Dynamic side undercuts, a high beltline and 21-inch machined aluminum wheels further enhance the well-proportioned design.

The roof over the rear was lowered to give the vehicle a sleeker shape. Highlighted by a panoramic glass surface that lets natural light fill the cabin and integrated roof racks, the floating rear spoiler houses the center high-mounted stop light and hides the antenna.

The Lincoln MKX Concept offers a new interpretation of Lincoln's signature full-width taillamps.

"Concept vehicles are defined by every design detail," said David Woodhouse, Lincoln design director, "and this MKX Concept shows how Lincoln's thoughtful design philosophy continues to evolve. The Lincoln brand was built on vehicles with stunning design, and the MKX Concept is the latest example."

Lincoln's aggressive signature split-wing grille accentuates the front end. The artistic interpretation of the grille features horizontal lines that continue as strips of LED accent lights below each headlamp. These strips of light glow sequentially as part of Lincoln's updated approach detection feature – one element of the Lincoln Experiences package.

Lincoln Experiences, a technology-driven suite of features introduced on the all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC small utility vehicle, is designed to create a warmer, more personal luxury car-owning experience. Lincoln will enter the Chinese market later this year when MKZ and MKC go on sale. An MKX production model would compete in the fast-growing midsize premium utility segment there. With 245,000 sales in 2013, the segment has grown 9,650 percent in the past five years. Premium midsize utility vehicles – which represent 17 percent of the luxury market and 45 percent of the luxury utility market in China – are projected to grow an additional 84 percent, to more than 450,000 units by 2018.*

In the United States, the segment grew 13 percent from 2008 to 2013, to 441,000 units. That growth is expected to continue through 2018, when projections call for almost 550,000 vehicle sales. Globally, the midsize premium utility segment accounted for 839,000 sales in 2013, and is projected to eclipse 1.2 million sales by 2018.**

Lexus showed off its polarizing new NX at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, trotting out both the turbocharged 200t model (Lexus' first production turbo) alongside the hybrid-powered 300h.

We still don't know a great deal about the turbocharged model, aside from the fact that the engine underhood is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, although we're hoping to get details sooner rather than later. For reference, the 2.0-liter turbo in the BMW X1 pumps out 240 horsepower while the four-pot turbo in the Mercedes-Benz GLA250 turns out 208 horsepower, which leads us to think we should expect the Lexus to fall somewhere between these two figures.

If Lexus' naming strategy in the past rings true here, though, we can confidently say the 300h will use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine with an electric motor and lithium-ion battery, just like the Lexus ES300h and Toyota Avalon Hybrid. That should mean around 200 system horsepower and well over 30 miles per gallon, although it's probably too early to predict economy with any degree of certainty.

BEIJING – April 11, 2014 – There's a first for everything! The all-new Lexus NX comes to market as the brand's first entry into the luxury compact crossover segment and with the first turbo in the lineup. The NX will also be offered in naturally aspirated and hybrid powertrains. Powertrains will vary by region. The U.S. market will offer the NX 200t turbo and NX 300h hybrid. The NX 200t F SPORT will also be available with unique exterior and interior features.

Lexus will maintain its role as the luxury hybrid leader with six hybrid models including the
NX 300h. The NX will be the fourth vehicle in Lexus' luxury utility vehicle lineup and positioned below the popular RX.

The Lexus LF-NX concepts, originally introduced at the 2013 Frankfurt and Tokyo Motor Shows, influenced the striking and emotional design of the NX. The sharply styled crossover will be revealed at the 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition on April 20.

Chief engineer Takeaki Kato and his team developed NX as a luxury vehicle that provides versatility and details unexpected in its class to young, urban drivers.

Exterior Design

The NX was developed to have more agility than a SUV plus a bold, eye-catching exterior with its low profile and unique roofline.

As with all Lexus vehicles, the aggressive exterior starts with the spindle grille. Innovative LED headlamps and daytime running lamps firmly express Lexus' bold styling.

The front and rear wheel arches add to the NX's wide and low, muscular stance with bold flares.
The arches house standard 17-inch or available 18-inch wheels.

The profile is accentuated by a roofline peak set towards the back of the vehicle to create a tight silhouette and provide ample head-room for rear seat occupants.

Subtle, luxury details are included in the innovative Lexus-first door handle with a hidden key barrel and integrated lighting.

The rear is punctuated by Lexus' signature 'L' shape combination lamps, each with seamless LED lighting, while the bodywork echoes the spindle grille design.

The NX 200t F SPORT will feature exclusive design elements and enhanced driving performance.

Interior Design

The NX's cabin combines the structural beauty of a high-performance machine with luxury materials that maximizes functionality. The combination of hard metallic surfaces and contrasting soft materials help create a unique interior.

A strong, center silver frame surrounds and defines the center instrument panel. Knee pads located at the base of the center stack help support the driver and passenger. The Human Machine Interface (HMI) technology continues the impression of an advanced vehicle and is also located at the bottom of the center stack.

Seating played a significant role in the cabin design. The NX possesses a low hip point adding to the connection of the driver to the vehicle and increasing overall head room. The NX also has a long cargo area length and a wide front to rear couple distance.

Technology

The NX introduces an innovative all-new 2.0-liter gasoline turbo in NX 200t and a naturally aspirated engine in NX 200 with the choice of front and all-weather drive. Lexus also offers a highly efficient hybrid in NX 300h.

The NX has an array of innovative on-board technology, including an available Lexus-first Wireless Charging Tray to enable a mobile phone to be charged. Other available technology includes the first application of a new Lexus Remote Touch Interface with a touch pad; and a comprehensive Multi- information Display, including a Lexus-first G sensor and boost meter, Heads-Up Display, All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

The 2015 Lexus NX is set to make its global debut this week at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, and although we've already gotten a good look from the photos revealed earlier this month, we still didn't know much about what was going on underneath the hood - until now. The Japanese automaker has revealed the 2015 NX’s engine specs, including the new turbocharged engine and hybrid that are slated for the U.S. An all-new turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 that makes 235 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque at 4000 rpm will be the sole powertrain in the Lexus NX 200t when it arrives on our shores later this year. The engine is the automaker's first-ever turbo, and it will come paired with a six-speed automatic transmission that Lexus says features a new torque-demand control logic, which "calculates the required engine torque and maximizes it, delivering quick response to acceleration and exhilarating feel with fuel efficiency." An F Sport NX 200t will be available at a later date, and it's possible it will come with an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters. We'll also be getting the Lexus NX 300h hybrid, which will be motivated by a 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle engine supplemented by an electric motor for a total output rated at 194 hp. While the U.S. gets the NX 200t and NX 300h, China and Russia will get the NX 200, which utilizes a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine paired to a CVT. In terms of its size, the NX's wheelbase measures 104.7 inches versus the RX's 107.9-inch long wheelbase. With an overall length of 182.3 inches, the NX is 5.5 inches shorter than its larger sibling, but only 1.6 inches slimmer. Height-wise, the NX is just 1.5 inches shorter than the RX. While we originally imagined the NX to be about the same size as the Nissan Juke, it's actually much larger. The NX is 19.9 inches longer, 3.0 inches taller, and 3.1 inches wider than Nissan's cute 'ute. It's also slightly larger than the BMW X1.While all of these developments have helped paint a good picture of the 2015 Lexus NX, we'll get a better idea of everything the luxury subcompact crossover has to offer when it's unveiled at the 2014 Beijing show this weekend.Source: Lexus

Gostei muito do CRX, morte ao cacalhera dos aircross.....

Gostei do Byd Tang, desenho proprio, porem, ja esta sendo possivel ter carros eletricos, com sistemas regenerativos, com algum painel solar que poderia ser o teto inteiro apenas mesmo, a opção de carregar na tomada e ainda ter o apoio de um motor a combustão para tocar um gerador e ampliar a autonomia, é assim que eu vejo que um caro eletrico deveria ser, um motor de 300cc com um ou dois pistões, estaria perfeito, ele possuiria todas as maneiras de ser recarregado, tornaria ele um legitimo flex, e andaria unica e exclusivamente com o motor eletrico.

Sinceramente eu não entendo o porque da demora de lançar um carro assim, ja que Porsche fez um carro de corrida assim em 1901 e ganhou a mesma.....

Ja o Jeep Renegade ficou mesmo especial, essas rodas deram um charme muito bom ao carro, o interior eu amei...
