2014 Holden Cruze 15.3.2013
Goes on sale next month
Holden has taken the wraps off the 2014 Cruze, ahead of its launch next month.
Described as the "best handling, best performing Holden Cruze to date," the 2014 model benefits from a number of changes to increase its appeal to Australian buyers.
First and foremost, the Cruze SRi and SRi-V are now equipped with a new turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 179 HP (132 kW) and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) of torque. It can be connected to a six-speed manual transmission or a second-generation six-speed automatic.
On the styling front, the SRi and SRi-V variants are distinguished by an aggressive body kit that includes revised bumpers, aerodynamic side skirts and a rear spoiler. There's also a new sports suspension that was specifically developed for the Australian market.
The mid-level Cruze CDX is available exclusively as a sedan and comes with several new features including a comfort-tuned suspension, a reverse camera and keyless entry. It can be equipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 141 HP (104 kW) and 175 Nm (129 lb-ft) of torque or a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel which cranks out 163 HP (120 kW) and 265 lb-ft (360 Nm) of torque.
Last but not least, the entry-level CD has been replaced by the Equipe trim level. It comes nicely equipped with air conditioning, a six-speaker audio system and a new MyLink infotainment system which has a seven-inch display.
The Equipe comes with the aforementioned 1.8-liter four-cylinder petrol engine, but is also available with the 2.0-liter diesel and a turbocharged 1.4-liter petrol that produces 140 HP (103 kW) and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft) of torque.
