Salão de New York 2.018 Volkswagen-atlas-cross-sport-concept
Salão de New York 2.018 Volkswagen-atlas-cross-sport-concept

GET UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH THE 2019 MERCEDES-AMG C63 S COUPE

MAR 28, 2018 at 2:24AM

Salão de New York 2.018 Adrian-padeanu1
BY: ADRIAN PADEANU, Editor

Official videos put the spotlight on the coupe version in the range-topping S flavor.

Following its world premiere last night at the New York Auto Show, the updated Mercedes-AMG C63 is making the headlines once again to show off the styling changes it has gone through for its mid-cycle refresh. The most obvious modification is noticeable at the front where the Panamericana grille gives all four body styles (sedan, coupe, wagon, cabrio) a more menacing appearance in line with other recent products from Affalterbach.

The styling tweaks go beyond that shiny new grille as the back of the AMG quartet has also been subtly revised. The quad exhaust finishers have been reshaped and now come with a high-gloss chrome finish for a stronger visual impact, also enhanced by the slightly more aggressive diffuser. Go for the coupe and there’s an optional AMG Aerodynamics package bringing a beefier front splitter and spoiler lip, as well as broader side skirt inserts, and flics for the rear bumper hosting a high-gloss black “more expressive” diffuser.
As standard, the C63 models ride on 18-inch alloy wheels, but fork out more money for the hotter S version and Mercedes will reward you with a bigger 19-inch set. Like before, the C63 S has another ace up its sleeve as it comes as standard with dynamic engine mounts reducing the vibrations coming from the engine and gearbox.
Inside, the novelties mirror those of the lesser C43 models and the regular C-Class versions, namely a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch display for the Comand infotainment system.
While the biturbo 4.0-liter V8 has been carried over with 469 horsepower and 503 hp in the S model, it’s now linked to a nine-speed automatic transmission or two more gears than before. It promises to deliver “an even more agile gearshift response” and will allow the quickest version of the bunch, the C63 S Coupe featured here, to hit 62 mph (100 kph) in 3.9 seconds before topping out at an electronically governed 180 mph (290 kph).
You can check out the performance details and full technical specification of all four C63 models in the press release below.

Salão de New York 2.018 Volkswagen-atlas-tanoak-concept
"Basicamente volume pequeno.
Salão de New York 2.018 Volkswagen-atlas-tanoak-concept

Salão de New York 2.018 2019-toyota-rav4-new-york-auto-show
Salão de New York 2.018 2019-toyota-rav4-new-york-auto-show

Salão de New York 2.018 2019-hyundai-tucson
Salão de New York 2.018 2019-hyundai-tucson

2019 Cadillac XT4 Is A Smaller, More Affordable Luxury SUV
OFFICIAL
HomeCadillacXT4News

MAR 28, 2018 at 3:15PM

Salão de New York 2.018 Jake-holmes2
BY: JAKE HOLMES, Senior Editor

Standard turbo engine and lower entry price should help the newest Cadillac's appeal.

It’s no secret that selling SUVs is a successful strategy for luxury automakers, so it makes sense that Cadillac is introducing another SUV to its range. The 2019 Cadillac XT4 bows at the 2018 New York Auto Show, and will slot beneath the existing XT5 in terms of size and pricing when it goes on sale this fall.
The XT4 is a little sleeker to behold than the XT5, in part because it’s a fair bit smaller. Compared to the XT5, the XT4’s wheelbase is 3.1 inches shorter; overall length is down by 8.4 inches, and height is down almost two inches. It will thus also be much lighter than its big brother, with the sveltest XT4 pegged at 3,660 pounds versus the skinniest XT5’s weight of 3,985.

[ltr]Salão de New York 2.018 2019-cadillac-xt4-new-york-auto-show Salão de New York 2.018 2019-cadillac-xt4-new-york-auto-show[/ltr]

One thing that does, however, carry over from other Cadillac models is the design. The 2019 XT4 has a chrome-trimmed black mesh grille up front, with L-shaped LED running lights, while out back LED taillights adorn a liftgate that’s topped by a subtle spoiler. Creases on the hood create a power bulge effect, while roof rails and black lower plastic cladding hint at the do-everything SUV utility of the XT4. The SUV wears 18-inch wheels as standard and 20-inch ones as an option.
High style continues inside, with highlights like a new three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, an air ionization system, wireless phone charging, and a new rotary controller for the Cadillac User Experience infotainment system. To that latter point, CUE until now has been operated primarily by touchscreens, but the new rotary controller on the center console will allow for quicker shortcuts to popular features; everything is displayed on an 8-inch screen. You’ll also find four USB ports, three 12-volt outlets, a 360-degree camera, and Cadillac’s Rear Camera Mirror.

[ltr]Salão de New York 2.018 2019-cadillac-xt4-new-york-auto-show Salão de New York 2.018 2019-cadillac-xt4-new-york-auto-show[/ltr]

[ltr]Salão de New York 2.018 2019-cadillac-xt4-new-york-auto-show Salão de New York 2.018 2019-cadillac-xt4-new-york-auto-show[/ltr]

Practicality remains even though this will be the smallest Cadillac SUV: the 2019 XT4 is set to offer 22.5 cubic feet of space with the rear seats up and 48.9 with them lowered, which is only a modest difference versus the XT5 (30.0/63.0 cubic feet). And an optional towing package will allow for pulling up to 3,500 pounds.
Underhood is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine rated for 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It mates to a nine-speed automatic transmission with either front- or all-wheel drive. Cadillac predicts fuel efficiency of 25 miles per gallon city, 30 mpg highway, and 27 combined. The all-wheel-drive system can disconnect the rear axle to improve fuel efficiency, too.
On the XT4 Sport trim level, Cadillac will offer a Continuous Damping Control suspension, which can adjust its reactions to road surfaces in just 2 milliseconds. And all XT4s will have an electrohydraulic brake-by-wire system; the company says that system takes up less space underhood and contributes to improving engine efficiency.

[ltr]Salão de New York 2.018 2019-cadillac-xt4-new-york-auto-show Salão de New York 2.018 2019-cadillac-xt4-new-york-auto-show[/ltr]

When it comes to the various model ranges, the 2019 XT4 introduces what Cadillac calls its “Y” trim strategy. Essentially, it means that buyers can select very different types of vehicles from the entry XT4 Luxury model, either selecting the XT4 Premium Luxury or the XT4 Sport. For instance, Premium Luxury will have “Pearl Nickel” wheels, satin exterior trim, leather seats, and either wood or aluminum interior trim, whereas the XT4 Sport will have things like tinted taillights, gloss-black exterior trim, carbon fiber interior trim, a unique steering wheel, and sports pedals. Cadillac says the “Y” trim strategy will also soon be applied to the 2019 CT6 sedan.
Introducing another, more affordable SUV in its lineup with undoubtedly help Cadillac attract luxury buyers who are, like car shoppers across all segments, incredibly interested in SUVs rather than cars. So far this year the XT5 alone has accounted for 38 percent of Cadillac’s U.S. sales; add in the Escalade, and SUVs are 60 percent of Cadillac’s year-to-date volume.
Pricing for the 2019 Cadillac XT4 will start at $35,790 including destination, or just over $6,000 more affordable than the XT5. The XT4 will hit U.S. dealerships this fall, though prospective customers can order one starting at the end of this month.

At Cadillac House in Manhattan today, Cadillac unveiled the first-ever XT4, an all- new compact SUV tailored for the next generation of luxury customers.
Developed on an exclusive compact SUV architecture, Cadillac’s entry in the industry’s fastest-growing luxury segment delivers expressive design, confident performance, spacious accommodations and new technologies.
“The first-ever 2019 Cadillac XT4 expands our successful SUV lineup to a segment where Cadillac has never been before,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen. “And it sets off a dramatic expansion and elevation of the product range, that will see a new Cadillac virtually once every six months through 2021.”
Simple and sculpted lines draw the customer in and accentuate the XT4’s powerful proportions and aggressive presence. The interior is the Cadillac design aesthetic distilled: the thoughtful and artistic integration of technology and appealing style. The cabin is exceptionally refined, with expected segment- leading rear-seat spaciousness.
All models are driven by an all-new Cadillac 2.0L Turbo engine that features new efficiency-enhancing technologies including Active Fuel Management (cylinder
deactivation), coupled with a nine-speed automatic transmission with next- generation Electronic Precision Shift.
Cadillac also debuts its new global “Y” trim strategy on the XT4. Distinctive Premium Luxury and Sport models build from the well-equipped Luxury (base) trim. Specific content and styling cues tailor the Premium Luxury and Sport trims to different customer tastes and preferences. Cadillac will roll out this new trim strategy beginning with the XT4 and the 2019 CT6 top-of-range sedan.
The XT4 will be priced starting at $35,790 including destination charge, excluding tax, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment, when it goes on sale in fall 2018. Starting at the end of March 2018, customers will be able to preorder their XT4s from participating U.S. Cadillac dealers nationwide.

 Additional XT4 highlights include:

 • Cadillac user experience with all-new rotary controller
 • Smart chassis features including available twin-clutch, decoupling all-

wheel drive

 • Available Active Sport Suspension featuring Continuous Damping

Control and new electro-hydraulic braking assist
  STYLE WITH SUBSTANCE
A team of young designers representing the heart of the XT4’s target customer demographic helmed the design, penning an expressive SUV that injects a higher degree of sculpture into Cadillac’s lineup — and today’s vehicle is very close to their original visions for the exterior and interior.
“The XT4 has a great presence that is confident and poised,” said Therese Pinazzo, exterior design manager. “It exudes Cadillac’s DNA, but with a new boldness that speaks to the youthfulness of its team and its customers.”
In keeping with Cadillac’s new “Y” trim strategy, the Luxury, Premium Luxury and Sport models offer distinctive styling cues and trim finishes to create unique personas and greater choice for customers. XT4 Sport models feature a gloss black mesh grille inspired by Cadillac’s high-performance V-Series models, gloss black window moldings and specific Sport alloy wheel choices. Luxury and Premium Luxury models feature grilles with bright metallic accents, satin aluminum window moldings and satin chrome-accented door handles.
All models feature advanced LED lighting technology front and rear, with front LED low and high beams and an LED-illuminated light blade for the daytime running lamps. Cadillac’s vertical L-shaped lighting signature is stretched horizontally, emphasizing the XT4’s width and confident stance.
Standard LED taillights are housed in traditional red lenses on Luxury and Premium Luxury, while the Sport model receives tinted neutral-density (clear)
lenses that complement the generally darker exterior color choices.
Eight exterior colors will be offered on the 2019 XT4 at launch: Atlantic Metallic, Autumn Metallic, Crystal White Tricoat, Twilight Blue Metallic, Shadow Metallic, Red Horizon Tintcoat, Stellar Black Metallic and Radiant Silver Metallic.
BOLD, REFINED AND SPACIOUS CABIN
Echoing the exterior design themes, the new XT4’s cabin conveys boldness and strength with youthful athleticism. Sweeping arcs and tapered lines enhance the feeling of spaciousness and give it a taut, tightly wrapped appearance. The interior elements come together in a sophisticated and modern design. Intuitive technology includes available next-generation wireless device charging and an in-cabin air ionizer.
“With the XT4’s interior, we distilled Cadillac to its essence,” said Phillip Kucera, Interior Design manager. “We’ve been able to be simpler and bolder than we have ever been before, giving the SUV attitude and a sporty connotation.”
The all-new XT4 offers exceptional space for a compact luxury SUV, particularly for rear-seat passengers. It is expected to lead the segment in rear-seat roominess, with 39.5 inches (1,004 mm) of legroom. The XT4 also offers 48.9 cubic feet (1,385 liters) of maximum cargo volume with the rear seat folded.
"The XT4 was envisioned holistically to deliver a dynamic sporty exterior without compromising comfort and functionality for passengers,” said Cadillac Exterior Design Director Jim Fleming, who helped create the vehicle’s architecture.
“It’s a great balance that delivers style and comfort on long drives such as a weekend getaway to a favorite ski slope, while still offering excellent cargo room for that ski trip’s gear.”
Additional interior features and highlights include:

 • The thick, three-spoke, leather-wrapped steering wheel is all new and was developed to enhance the sporty feel of the vehicle while maintaining driver comfort on long drives.
 • Sport-inspired seating with prominent seat-bottom and seatback bolsters balances comfort with the kind of support typically found in sports sedans. A massage feature is available.
 • Available white ambient lighting casts a sophisticated glow and highlights important features.
 • Technology integration includes Cadillac’s first rotary controller for the Cadillac user experience and other vehicle features (see below for more information), along with streamlined vehicle controls for easier, more

  intuitive use.
At launch, the 2019 XT4 will be offered in seven interior environments, based on Luxury, Premium Luxury or Sport trims:

 • XT4 Luxury — Light Platinum/Jet Black with Aluminum Metallized decor trim
 • XT4 Premium Luxury — Jet Black with Diamond-Cut Aluminum, Light Platinum/Jet Black with Linear Galaxy High-Gloss Wood, Sedona/Jet Black with Fineline Calico High-Gloss Wood
 • XT4 Sport — Jet Black with Cinnamon Accents with Twenty-Two High- Gloss Carbon Fiber, Light Wheat/Jet Black with Red Accents and Morello Red High-Gloss Carbon Fiber, Sedona/Jet Black with Fineline Calico High-Gloss Wood

 INTUITIVE TECHNOLOGIES
Led by the latest Cadillac user experience, the brand’s most advanced infotainment interface, the XT4 offers a connected environment.
The Cadillac user experience is a dynamic platform that offers a smartphone- like experience with an intuitive interface, faster response and improved voice recognition that can be updated over time to meet a customer’s evolving connectivity needs. It leverages the cloud and available embedded 4G LTE connection to enable personalization, available connected navigation and news, marketplace and entertainment applications via the app store and a new rotary controller that offers users alternative ways to interact with the system.
The new controller includes volume and seek forward/back controls for the audio system; shortcut buttons for fast access to the most frequently used apps such as Audio, Phone, Navigation (if available) and Home; and a large center dial to operate primary features of the most frequently used apps, scroll menus and lists and select other apps to be displayed.
Additional XT4 technologies include:

 • The 8-inch diagonal Cadillac user experience interface screen has 768p HD resolution
 • Near-Field Communication, a Cadillac-first integration, greatly improves the process of pairing a phone (if compatible) with Cadillac user experience.
 • Next-generation, 15-watt wireless charging is available and offers faster charging timesi.
 • There are four standard USB Ports and three 12-volt accessory power outletsii. Models equipped with the available navigation radio also receive an SD memory card reader in the center console.
 • The full suite of active safety features includes Surround Vision and second-generation Rear Camera Mirror (available)iii.

   XT4 DRIVING DYNAMICS
The new Cadillac XT4’s confident, athletic appearance is complemented by great agility. It is characteristically Cadillac in refinement and responsiveness, but with a youthful edginess derived from the brand’s critically acclaimed sports sedans.
It starts with an all-new Cadillac 2.0L Turbo engine. This advanced, power-dense inline-four-cylinder — 118.5 hp per liter — features an industry-first tripower system. The system is designed to optimize performance and efficiency by having three distinct operating modes, including high and low valve lift and Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation).
The engine also features a twin-scroll turbocharger to enhance torque production at lower speeds, as well as direct injection, active thermal management and stop/start technologies. Output is SAE-certified at 237 hp (177 kW) and 258 lb-ft of torque (350 Nm). A nearly flat torque curve gives the XT4
surprising responsiveness throughout the engine’s RPM range.
A nine-speed automatic transmission is paired with the new engine, helping the XT4 achieve a Cadillac-estimated 30 mpg in highway drivingiv. The vehicle also features the next generation of electronic precision shift, which features an intuitive shifting sequence.
When it comes to channeling the XT4’s power to the pavement, a strut-type front suspension and five-link independent rear suspension are tuned to balance refinement with responsiveness. The standard Driver Select Mode allows that tuning to be adjusted on demand for different driving styles and road conditions.
A twin-clutch all-wheel-drive system is available and offers the convenience of decoupling entirely from the rear wheels when the driver chooses, eliminating drivetrain friction.
XT4 Sport’s available Active Sport Suspension features Continuous Damping Control and takes driving dynamics and control to a higher threshold, using electronic sensors to monitor the road in real time and making damping adjustments every 2 milliseconds.
The XT4 is also the first Cadillac to introduce electro-hydraulic braking assist, which supplants the traditional vacuum-assisted power braking system with an electro-hydraulic system that enhances fuel economy and takes up less space
 under the hood.

Salão de New York 2.018 Nissan-Altima-2019-2
Salão de New York 2.018 Nissan-Altima-2019-5

The high-performance SUV features the highest output engine per liter of any Maserati.

Maserati has just unveiled the most powerful version of the Levante SUV. The Levante Trofeo is making its debut at the 2018 New York Auto Show with a massive V8 engine, which has “the highest output per liter of any Maserati powerplant ever produced.”
The 3.8-liter biturbo motor generates 590 horsepower (440 kilowatts) at 6,250 rpm and 538 pound-feet (730 Newton-meters) of peak torque between 2,250 and 5,000 rpm - a power that equals to 156 hp/116 kW per liter. The engine, built by Ferrari in Maranello, ensures the Italian SUV is capable of accelerating from a standstill to 62 miles per hour (0-100 kilometers per hour) in just 3.9 seconds. Top speed should be over 186 mph (300 kph).

Of course, there’s more to this high performance SUV than just the new engine. The Levante Trofeo also gets a specially-tuned sports suspension, providing “driving experience with no compromise in terms of comfort.” The automaker promises a perfect 50:50 weight balance and a low center of gravity.
Visually, at the front, the SUV benefits from a new bumper splitter and a radiator grille with double vertical bars in a piano black finish. At the back, there's a new diffuser with integrated oval exhaust tips in a dark finish. A set of 22-inch forged aluminum wheels, available in both polished and matte finishes - the largest wheels fitted on a Maserati ever, are hiding performance painted brake calipers in red, blue, black, silver or yellow.

Inside the cabin, you’ll find sport bucket seats covered with natural leather and contrasting stitching depending on the color choice. Model-specific equipment includes matte carbon fiber trim and paddle shifters, new floor mats with metal Trofeo badges, and a unique Maserati clock. As standard, you’ll also get a 1,280-watt, 17-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system.
Displayed in New York currently is a limited Levante Trofeo launch edition finished in matte Grigio Lava exterior paint with matte finished 22-inch wheels and red brake calipers. It’s intended for "a small number of Maserati customers in the U.S. and Canada." Production of the model begins this summer at the company's plant in Mirafiori, Italy.

Modena, 27 March 2018 – Maserati reveals the first Levante built around a V8 engine at the New York International Auto Show. It is the Levante Trofeo, the ultimate Maserati of SUVs, capable of accelerating in style from 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reaching a top speed of over 300 km/h.
The Levante Trofeo is equipped with one of the most powerful engines ever fitted in a Maserati. A 3.8-litre Twin Turbo V8 engine that has been engineered to perfectly mate with the Q4 Intelligent All-Wheel Drive System and delivers an astounding 590 hp at 6,250 rpm and 730 Nm of peak torque at 2,250 – 5,000 rpm.
The engine boasts the highest output per litre (156 hp/litre) of any Maserati powerplant ever produced and, like all Maserati gasoline engines, is assembled by Ferrari in Maranello, Italy.
The chassis of the fastest Levante ever has been tuned to handle the higher power output and provides an exhilarating driving experience with no compromise in terms of comfort. This tuning ensures the Levante Trofeo continues to embody the essence of the Maserati GranTurismo philosophy with supercar performance.
“It’s proof that when you play with the elements you end up in a storm”, says Maserati CEO Tim Kuniskis. “In the case of Trofeo, the engineers and designers in Modena knew that the driveline parameters were more than able to cope with additional power and they also knew that Maserati had access to the finest engines on earth. So, they were up to the challenge of making the finest luxury SUV also one of the fastest”.
The unmistakable Levante design has reached new levels of sportiness in this top of the line Trofeo. The elegant restyling was mainly focused on the lower front fascia and the rear bumper and is underlined by the 22-inch forged aluminium “Orione” wheels – the largest ever fitted on a Maserati – available in both polished and matte finishes.
The side air intakes in the lower fascia feature a new, more aggressive design, defined by two aerodynamic wings that give a sense of further stability, visually “pushing” the weight of the car’s nose towards the massive front wheels. And to help improve the airflow distribution, Trofeo is outfitted with carbon fibre side bezel blades and a carbon fibre splitter.
The rear end also looks wider and more muscular with a sharper carbon fibre horizontal element and body-color lower extractor that embrace the oval quad exhaust tips.
In front, the Levante Trofeo has Full Matrix LED headlights, a front grille with double vertical bars in a piano black finish and lower honeycomb mesh fascia, as well as body color door handles, oval exhaust tips in a dark finish and performance painted brake calipers in red, blue, black, silver or yellow. And to cap it off, specific “Saetta” Trofeo logos adorn the iconic c-pillars of the coupé styled SUV.
Specific details, like the lower splitter, the blade side bezels in the front air intakes, the side skirt inserts and the rear extractor are made of ultralight, high-gloss carbon fibre, giving the Levante Trofeo a polished racing look. Even the hood is new, featuring two aggressive vent for better cylinder head cooling. And under the hood, the engine cover is also made of high-gloss carbon fibre featuring a V8 inscription and the iconic Trident logo, while cylinder heads and intake manifolds are painted red.
Interior designers have come up with elegant ways to create a distinctive environment within the Levante Trofeo cabin. The sculpted sport seats feature a premium full-grain “Pieno Fiore” natural leather available in black, red and tan, all with contrast stitching and “Trofeo” logo stitched on the headrests. “Pieno Fiore” is like no other leather used in the automotive industry for its natural, soft feel and for the unique character it develops throughout the years.
A new matte carbon fibre trim and paddle shifters, specific instrument cluster graphics, floor mats with metal Trofeo badges and a Maserati clock with a unique dial elegantly underline the exclusive sporty character of this extraordinary Levante, which is outfitted with a standard 1,280-watt, 17-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium surround sound audio system for exceptional listening enjoyment.
The production of the Levante Trofeo starts this summer at the refurbished Maserati plant in Mirafiori (Turin), Italy. The fastest Levante in Maserati history is initially intended for overseas export markets, including the U.S. and Canada.
Power under control
Maserati engineers developed the mighty 3.8-litre Twin Turbo V8 engine to accommodate the Q4 Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system, providing it with a new crankcase design, specific crankshaft assembly, new oil pump and auxiliary belt and a different wiring layout.
New turbochargers feature increased flow, while redesigned cylinder heads with specific camshafts and valves, different pistons and new connecting rods allow the ability to reach the maximum power targets in combination with specific engine calibration mapping.
The Levante Trofeo is definitely one of the fastest SUVs ever built with a top speed of over 300 km/h. Thanks to its remarkable weight/power ratio of 3.6 kg/hp the Trofeo needs only 3.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h and only 34.5 metres of braking distance to get back to a complete stop.
The ideal 50:50 weight balance and the low center of gravity - common to all Levante models - in combination with the finely tuned double-wishbone front / Multi Link rear suspension and the larger tyres fitted to the 22-inch forged aluminium wheels, endow the new Trofeo with remarkably balanced handling and lateral stability.
The new “Corsa" Driving mode with Launch Control functionality in addition to the existing Normal, I.C.E., Sport and Off Road modes has been adopted to enhance the athletic character of the ultimate Maserati SUV. “Corsa” driving mode further improves engine response and opens exhaust valves in acceleration, as well as provides faster gear shifting, lower air suspension height levels, sportier Skyhook damping and optimized Q4 Intelligent All-Wheel Drive settings and interacts with Traction Control and ESP systems to maximize driving pleasure.
The Maserati Integrated Vehicle Control (IVC) system has been incorporated for the first time in a Levante, for impressive driving dynamics, better performance and a genuine Maserati driving experience, by helping to prevent vehicle instability, instead of correcting “driver mistakes” as a traditional Electronic Stability Program (ESP) system does.
Limited series Levante Trofeo launch edition
As an introduction to its upcoming new model, Maserati is showcasing a limited Levante Trofeo launch edition at the Javits Center in New York. The show car is in the special matte Grigio Lava paint with matte finished 22-inch wheels and red brake calipers. This limited series Trofeo is exclusively intended for a small number of Maserati customers in the U.S. and Canada.
The Levante Trofeo launch edition will be available in eight unique exterior colors including the following exclusive exterior features: 22-inch forged aluminium wheels with three-season performance tyres or new 21-inch wheels with all-season tyres, in a gloss finish and dark details, like black daylight openings (DLO) and fog light rings, as well as Black Chrome Maserati badges, Trofeo “Saetta” logos, side air vents and trunk accent.
The Trofeo launch edition interior is even more individual, featuring natural “Pieno Fiore” leather sport seats available in black, tan or red with contrast stitching. Black leather with blue or yellow stitching is exclusive to the launch edition and all feature the new matte carbon fibre wave interior trim. A serialized launch edition badge integrated on the center console featuring the customer’s name, has also been added to underline the unique character of the Trofeo launch edition.
Other Maserati models showcased at NYIAS 2018
Besides the new Levante Trofeo, the following Maserati models are showcased at the 2018 New York International Auto Show that will be open for the public from March 30th to April 8th at the Javits Center.
Ghibli S Q4 GranSport, the sportiest expression of the Maserati sports sedan featuring the Nerissimo Carbon package,
Ghibli S Q4 GranLusso, the epitome of luxury in the premium sedan class;
Levante S GranLusso, the 430 hp Maserati of SUVs in its more luxurious trim;
Quattroporte GTS GranSport, the 530 hp Twin Turbo V8 Maserati flagship sedan with the Nerissimo Carbon Package;
GranCabrio Sport, the iconic Italian four-seat convertible featuring Bianco Birdcage exterior paint.

2019 Cadillac CT6 V-Sport Gets New 550-HP Biturbo V8
OFFICIAL
HomeCadillacCT6News

MAR 29, 2018 at 8:38AM

BY: CHRIS BRUCE, Editor

The newly developed engine features a clean-sheet design.

[UPDATE, March 29] Live images from the New York Auto Show have been added at the beginning of the gallery, below.
Cadillac will give the CT6 a major power upgrade because the new V-Sport model will be the first vehicle to get a direct-injected 4.2-liter biturbo V8 that will pump out 550 horsepower (410 kilowatts) and 627 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters) of torque in the top output. There will also be a 500-hp (373 kW) version.
Caddy reports the mill has a completely clean-sheet design. The engineering put an emphasis on keeping the packaging compact but still producing plenty of performance. The mill features a so-called "hot V" where the exhaust exits from the valley between the heads, rather than on the outside like on most V8s. The company also integrates the two twin-scroll turbos into the exhaust manifolds at the top of the engine. Cadillac reports that this setup creates a tighter package and reduced turbo lag.

To save weight, the new engine uses an aluminum block and pistons. A forged steel crankshaft and pistons make sure that the powerplant can handle the turbo's making up to 20 pounds (1.38 bar) of boost.
Salão de New York 2.018 Cadillac-ct6-v-sport
The turbos feature a water-to-air intercooler for cooling the boosted air, which results in more oxygen in a given volume to maximize power output. Cadillac estimates that the system reduces the air charge temperature by more than 130 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius).
“Designing an all-new engine was the best way to achieve the performance goals for the CT6 V-Sport,” Jordan Lee, the engine's chief engineer, said in its announcement.
The CT6 V-Sport will pair the new engine with a 10-speed automatic gearbox, and a limited-slip rear differential will help with traction. Magnetic Ride Control dampers help sharpen the handling, and a set of 19-inch Brembo brakes handle stopping the performance sedan.
The V-Sport also features a mesh grille and comes with LED headlights. Gloss black trim surrounds the windows, and the model rides on 20-inch wheels, which are available with summer-only tires.

Cadillac Introduces First-Ever Twin-Turbo V-8 Engine
Sophisticated, all-new 4.2L Twin Turbo V-8 is at the heart of new CT6 V-Sport’s exemplary performance

Cadillac begins a new chapter in its high-performance legacy with today’s introduction of the brand’s first-ever twin-turbo V-8 engine. It is the centerpiece of the new CT6 V-Sport, an engaging sports sedan infused with DNA of Cadillac’s world-renowned motorsports program.

Developed as a small-displacement V-8 in the classic vein and offering exceptional power density of 131 hp (98 kW) per liter, this new Cadillac-exclusive 4.2L Twin Turbo V-8 — GM estimated at 550 horsepower (410 kW) and 627 lb-ft of torque (850 Nm) — elevates the CT6’s performance to a new plateau and offers drivers an unparalleled experience behind the wheel.  An optional 500-horsepower version will also be available.
“Cadillac’s performance technology reaches new heights with the new and exclusive 4.2L Twin Turbo V-8,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen. “The engineering prowess embodies the very spirt of Cadillac performance on and off the racetrack.”
The new Cadillac Twin Turbo V-8 is a clean-sheet design that also introduces unique design elements developed to balance performance and efficiency with compact, mass-efficient packaging.
“Designing an all-new engine was the best way to achieve the performance goals for the CT6 V-Sport,” said Jordan Lee, 4.2L TT V-8 chief engineer. “It builds on Cadillac’s well-established turbocharging know-how and forges new ground with innovative features that deliver exceptional performance and refinement.”
At the center of the 4.2L Twin Turbo V-8 is a “hot V” configuration that transposes the conventional layout of the cylinder heads’ intake and exhaust systems to mount the turbochargers at the top of the engine — in the valley between the heads — to virtually eliminate turbo lag and reduce the engine’s overall packaging size.
In a conventional turbocharged engine, the cylinder heads receive the pressurized air charge through ports at the top of the engine and the exhaust exits through ports on the lower outside of the heads into manifolds connected to the turbochargers.
With Cadillac’s innovative hot V design, the intake-charged air enters through the lower outside of the heads and exits through the top inside — where the turbochargers are integrated with the exhaust manifolds — for quick spool-up that translates into more immediate power delivery. The design also allows closer mounting of the catalytic converters, for efficient packaging.
Additional engine highlights:
Twin-scroll turbochargers
Electronic wastegate control
Twin water-to-air charge coolers
Twin throttle bodies
Direct injection
Dual-independent camshaft phasing
Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation)
Variable-pressure oiling system
Stop/start technology
Each engine will be hand-built at the Performance Build Center in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

SMALL DISPLACEMENT, LARGE EFFECT
The new Cadillac Twin Turbo V-8’s foundation is an all-new, durable and lightweight aluminum cylinder block that houses an equally robust, lightweight rotating assembly composed of a forged steel crankshaft, forged steel connecting rods and high-strength aluminum pistons.
The crankshaft’s 90.2mm (3.55 inch) stroke complements the cylinder bores’ 86mm (3.39 inch) diameter to give the engine its 4.2L (255 cubic-inch) displacement.
Its comparatively small bore dimension enables the reduction in the size and weight of the pistons, optimizing the engine’s geometry to match the fast-rev capability permitted by the engine’s low-inertia, twin-scroll turbochargers. The result is exceptional responsiveness and immediacy of power across the rpm band.
The turbochargers produce up to 20 pounds of boost (1.38 bar) and are matched with electronic wastegate control for more precise boost management and more responsive torque production. In fact, 90 percent of the engine’s peak torque is available at only 2000 rpm, and it is carried through 5200 rpm for a confident, virtually bottomless power reserve.
TWIN-SCROLL TURBOCHARGERS
The turbos’ twin-scroll design broadens their performance capability, offering quicker response and greater efficiency. Rather than a single spiral chamber (scroll) feeding exhaust gas from the exhaust manifold to drive the turbine on each turbocharger, the twin-scroll design has a divided housing with two exhaust gas inlets and two nozzles to drive the turbine. Generally, one of the nozzles contributes to quicker response and boost production, while the other contributes to overall peak performance.
Each of the engine’s integrated exhaust manifolds/turbocharger housings splits the exhaust channels from the cylinder head so the exhaust flows through separate scrolls based on the engine’s exhaust pulses. When matched with precise valve timing, that separation leverages exhaust-scavenging techniques to optimize gas flow, improves turbine efficiency and reduces turbo lag.
The electronically controlled wastegates — one per turbocharger — are used for more precise management of the engine’s boost pressure and subsequent torque response for smoother, more consistent performance. They are independently controlled on each cylinder bank to balance the turbo compressors’ output, for greater boost pressure response.
WATER-TO-AIR CHARGE COOLING AND DUAL THROTTLE BODIES
An efficient water-to-air charge-cooling system contributes to the engine’s performance, enhancing the turbochargers’ effectiveness. Similar in concept to an engine’s radiator, the system’s intercoolers cool the boosted air charge before it enters the cylinders. Cooler air is denser, which means there is more oxygen in a given volume, resulting in optimal combustion and more power.
The system features a pair of heat exchangers located above the valley-mounted exhaust manifold/turbocharger housings. The turbos pump pressurized air directly through the heat exchangers and into the cylinder heads. The heat exchangers are cooled by their own coolant circuit.
The intercoolers lower the air charge temperature by more than 130 degrees F (74 C), packing the combustion chambers with cooler, denser air. Also, the system achieves more than 80 percent cooling efficiency with only about 1 psi (7 kPa) flow restriction at peak power, which contributes to fast torque production.
Before entering the combustion chambers, the cooled air charge flows through a pair of throttle bodies, one for each engine bank. Each electronically controlled throttle body has a 59mm diameter opening.
NEW 10-SPEED TRANSMISSION
The new Cadillac Twin Turbo V-8 is matched with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Its wide, 7.39 overall gear ratio spread enhances off-the-line performance and contributes to reduced engine speed on the highway, which enhances refinement and efficiency. Smaller steps between the gears also help the engine maintain the optimal speed for maximum power at almost all vehicle speeds.
ADDITIONAL TECHNOLOGIES
Direct fuel injection is used to optimize efficiency and performance. With direct injection, a higher compression ratio — 9.8:1 — is possible because of a cooling effect as the injected fuel vaporizes in the combustion chamber, reducing the charge temperature to lessen the likelihood of spark knock. A pair of engine-mounted, camshaft-driven high-pressure fuel pumps supplies fuel to the specialized injectors at 5,075 psi (350 bar), with each pump supplying fuel to one bank of the engine.
Active Fuel Management (AFM), also known as cylinder deactivation, imperceptibly shuts down half of the engine’s cylinders in certain light-load driving conditions to enhance fuel economy. Unique deactivating rocker arms are used for each of the four valves of the cylinder being deactivated.
Dual overhead camshafts and a virtually silent chain-driven valvetrain contribute to the smoothness and the high output of the Cadillac Twin Turbo V-8, while dual independent continuously variable valve timing helps deliver optimal performance and efficiency. The dual independent system, which allows the intake and exhaust valves to be phased at different rates, promotes linear delivery of torque with near-peak levels over a broad rpm range, and high specific output (horsepower per liter of displacement) without sacrificing overall engine response or drivability.
Oil jets located in the block are employed for performance and temperature control. Four jet assemblies in the engine drench the underside of the pistons and the surrounding cylinder walls with an extra layer of cooling, friction-reducing oil. The jets reduce piston temperature, allowing the engine to produce more power without reducing long-term durability.
Variable-pressure oiling system. A variable-displacement vane oil pump enhances efficiency by optimizing oil pressure as a function of engine speed. With it, the oil supply is matched to the engine load rather than the linear operation of a conventional, fixed-flow oil pump.  The engine uses 10 quarts of General Motors’ dexos2 0W40 motor oil.
Stop/start technology shuts down the engine when the vehicle stops momentarily, such as at stoplights. The engine automatically restarts when the driver takes their foot off the brake. An auxiliary battery powers electric accessories such as the climate system, power windows and radio during engine restarts.
